The country I eagarly wanted to visit before starting
to work was Cuba.

I majored in international politics in the university.
It has almost no relationships with my work now, though
I'd been interested in problems of the Middle East and
other ethinic conflicts since I was in high school.

While studying international relations,
the idea that had been hooked in my mind for a long time was
"Why socialism is thought to be bad?
I think the basic idea is good....."

The year before my graduation, the September 11th
terrorists attacks happened.
I also wanted to go to New York to see the Ground Zero.
And, since there were no diplomatic relations
between United States and Cuba, I thought it's a nice idea
to go through Mexico and enter Cuba, because I can practice
my Spanish as well.

Before leaving Japan, my parents told me,
"Please don't go to Cuba.

I also worried to go there alone,
so I thought I'd decide whether to go or not
in Mexico.

At Cancun, a gateway to Cuba,
I stayed at a Japanese backpacker's accomodation
and searched if there were somebody interested in
going to Cuba. And I found a guy!
"U" was as old as I ,,,or one year older?
I knew it later that, he had traveled around dangerous
areas like Middle East, Yugoslavia and some other places.
We talked about going to Cuba and the next day,
we got plane tickets to Havana at the travel agency.

prejudices or biases

I think we are losing a lot having these things in mind.
Once we have them, our view will be one-sided.
Without them, there will be a possibility to find a new world.

Any person has something good in him/herself.
I want to meet someone with the uncolored mind,
and I want to value what I feel from the meeting.

"If the teacher quit, I will quit."
Some students (or mother?) told him.
but, the next day, there was a call and said,
"I am studying English not because you are my teacher.
I've come to understand English and I enjoy it. So, I won't quit."

When you come to understand something,
you can find yourself enjoying it.

I want as many children as possible
to feel like that.
I hope I can inspire children the joy of learning.

The concert has finished successfully.
But...It was too long!!!!
We gathered at 8:30 and did some settings.
The concert opened at 9:30 and it went on
without stopping.
It was 8:45 when the last performance finished.
The children listed on the third part had to
wait much more than they had expected, we feel
awfully sorry for that.

I think, Japanese have the culture to think about others.
When we do something, we tend to think how it affects
others, pay attention to the reaction of our surroundings.
This can lead to the lack of assertiveness, but

To be considerate to the others.
This is a great nature.

I listened some news from CNN and BBC via podcast.
They are quite different.
I stayed in Scotland, which is located in northern part of UK,
so my English seemed to be closer to British English.
But now, I forgot the dialect and my English doesn't have British
accent any more, I think.
CNN was easier to understand for me.
I've got used to American English, because most of English studies
in Japan are based on American English.

About diapason.
Japanese is low-frequency language. (500Hz-1500Hz)
English is high-frequency language.(1500Hz-5000Hz)
(American English: 1500Hz-, British English 2000Hz-)

When we get older, we come to catch sounds in low-frequency
level, and don't catch the high-frequency sounds.
So, English just go through our brains.
This makes English studies more difficult for Japanese.
We need to get accustomed to English sounds by
listening again and again, listening high-speed and activate
right brain, or in other ways.

Let me change stories a bit.
Unlike English, Spanish is similar to Japanese.
It's also true in diapason.
If we know some rules like;
we don't pronounce "h"when it's in the beginning,
then we can read Spanish like Roman reading.
This is one of the reason why I like Spanish
"Spanish is easy to read!"(^^)
It's fun to listen and fun to speak out.
Though, I haven't started Spanish study yet....(^^;)

I was scared and turned off the gas.

However, I needed more time to finish pressure cooking,

I read some books written by Seikan Kobayashi
and Hitori Saito in the last 6 months.
When you keep saying "Thank you." and "I'm lucky."
good things will happen to you, they say.

Especially, Seikan Kobayashi's book encouraged me a lot
when I was in bad mood. I felt the world opening
ahead of me after reading his book.
So, I'm keeping it a habit to say
thank you and I'm lucky.

Also, I had the purpose to try my Spanish, which I learned

if you want to aquire English,
please listen again and again, till you memorise the phrases.
You can choose anything from some English learning kit, radio programs,

It's OK with Japanese explanation for adults.
when you've memorised, try to speak out simultaneously.

I used it as a recorder too.
I recorded my lesson and our new staff's lesson.

I can tell you, this recorder's performance is just great!!!
It can catch the voice and also piano sounds from the nextdoor.
If I set the noise canceler, the human voice becomes so clear.
Technology advance is amazing!

I was relieved because my English was English.
I was surprised because I was speaking faster than I thought!

The main reason why I decided to buy an IC recorder was,
I have to be the chief of the English section from April
and now I feel the responsibility and anxiety.
A month ago, I was going to cut some lessons, but
the situation has changed...
Unexpected things can happen in life...
I'll just try my best!

Today, I wanted to see Rhincodon, so I uploaded the movie
I took at Churaumi aeuarium in Okinawa.
When I look at fish swimming so graciously, I almost forget about time.
Rhincodon was so big and I stayed there for a long time.
They might have told me, "don't worry about trifles.".

People whom I think are good at learning English:

actors and actresses.

This is because they are used to play other characters.
When they speak English, they just be Americans, British,
or some other native speakers.
(of course this is not true for everybody...)
